Wood storks are very large wading birds. This particular bird is another regular who sits at the top of this tree overlooking all of the wood stork nests in the rookery. No sure if he has a partner or is a parent, but he always appears to be in a position of oversight.
The bird rookeries are full of nesting couples in very close quarters. A rather smallish tree can have as many as 20 nesting wood stork couples, plus, numerous other birds like the anhinga, great white egrets and sometimes cattle egrets. You are also likely to to see at least a couple of opportunistic iguanas.
In a world filled with constant noise & distractions, I find solace in the simple things in life & the unspoiled beauty of nature. A way to connect with the Earth and find inner peace. I hope to leave behind a legacy of my love for nature through my photography, hoping to inspire others to find their own sense of solitude in the beauty of the world that surrounds them.
