Artist's Description
This stunning image captures the breathtaking beauty of Meteora, Greece, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its monasteries perched atop towering rock formations. The photograph showcases one of these ancient monasteries, nestled on a rocky outcrop and surrounded by immense, weathered cliffs. The monastery's warm, earthy tones contrast dramatically with the dark, imposing stone of the surrounding peaks, highlighting its precarious and awe-inspiring location.
The sky above is filled with brooding clouds, adding a sense of drama and mystique to the scene. The lush greenery at the base of the rocks provides a vibrant contrast to the rugged cliffs, emphasizing the natural beauty and tranquility of this unique landscape. This image captures the essence of Meteora, blending historical architecture with the raw majesty of nature, making it a captivating visual experience for any viewer.

Constance Lowery
ok, do you get there by helicopter?
Rebecca Herranen replied:
Oh no, I don't know how you get to this particular one, but there are several. A couple of them, stairs have been built to them. Originally they climbed and used ropes to haul all of the building materials. They are all free standing, not touching any primary landmass.
