Sometimes I am like a child seeing things for the very first time. I get so excited. We were a bit north of the Bosque Del Apache in New Mexico photographing the wildlife that migrates through along the Rio Grand River. We were looking for sandhill cranes and snow guess when I see this little blue spot flit past our car. The color was magnificent and it landed on some tall pieces of spent grass.
I had never seen a bird like this, only being familiar with a blue jay in the mountains where I grew up. Asking around I realized this was the iconic little Bluebird of Happiness I had only heard of. I will tell you that it gave me a lot of happiness that day.
