Artist's Description
It was during August 2020, the temperature was 104 in the late afternoon, desert heat. The normally blue skies were filled with smoke from the wildfires burning all over the west. Shooting into the sunset was going to be difficult. No matter, I have wanted to see the red rock of Horseshoe Bend for as long as I have known of its existence. I was going to see it and photograph it, because I may never have the opportunity again.
The hike while only about a half a mile was hot. So hot that down the viewing platform a woman passed out multiple times. But it was so worth it. Horseshoe Bend is located within a couple of mile of Page, Arizona after the Lake Powell dam.
About Rebecca Herranen

In a world filled with constant noise & distractions, I find solace in the simple things in life & the unspoiled beauty of nature. A way to connect with the Earth and find inner peace. I hope to leave behind a legacy of my love for nature through my photography, hoping to inspire others to find their own sense of solitude in the beauty of the world that surrounds them. Through my art, I invite you to slow down, breathe in the simple beauty and recognize the deep sense of tranquility that the natural world offers. This is your invitation to make those connections, and in doing so find a deeper sense of peace & purpose in life. My Website I work with my husband Timo, traveling and photographing our journey along the way....
