Description
Horsetail reeds or Equisetum hyemale is an ancient grass, hollow and jointed, much like bamboo. Horsetails are aquatic plants and prefers moisture, so it can be found growing along, marshes, ponds and streams which is were I found this lovely cluster. As a child I used to make a musical instrument of sorts out of sections of the reed. Sounded sort of like a quacking duck.
Today I see them in their long slender form evoking feeling of serenity. In fact you will often see them in Zen inspired gardens, in health spas and along quiet paths. I find this piece very calming and serene and I can picture it anywhere you would want to inspire a restful atmosphere.
