Description
Skogasfoss is probably the best known and most visited waterfall in Iceland. It's not only easy to get to, but most of all it is impressive. It rushes over the top and drops almost 200 feet to the black lava gravel at the base and then meanders on down to the sea. You can almost always expect to see a double rainbow. I have never seen so many double rainbows as they have in Iceland.
There is a trail that you can hike up to the top of the fall and it's a beautiful view, not just looking down but you can follow the Skoga River for quite some distance. It's very pretty. Sheep all over the hills and rocky edges close to the river. The trail is mostly stairs, it's a fairly steep incline, but worth it if you can do it. Once on top it is just rolling hills.
