Artist's Description

The Castel Sant'Angelo was originally constructed by the Roman emperor, Hadrian as a mausoleum for himself and his family. Later it was used by the popes as a fortress and a castle. Today it is a very interesting museum.
The ashes of many emperors to follow were entombed here but later scattered by tomb raiders. It became a military and that is where much of this historic structure was lost. Then the popes converted the Castel de Angelo into a fortress and castle in the 14th century. It was also converted into a prison.
This is not your typical view of the Castel Sant'Angelo, but then I like to take pictures of things that are not so typical. I love the architectural style reminding me of some of the very ancient old streets of Rome.

About Rebecca Herranen

Rebecca Herranen

In a world filled with constant noise & distractions, I find solace in the simple things in life & the unspoiled beauty of nature. A way to connect with the Earth and find inner peace. I hope to leave behind a legacy of my love for nature through my photography, hoping to inspire others to find their own sense of solitude in the beauty of the world that surrounds them. Through my art, I invite you to slow down, breathe in the simple beauty and recognize the deep sense of tranquility that the natural world offers. This is your invitation to make those connections, and in doing so find a deeper sense of peace & purpose in life. My Website I work with my husband Timo, traveling and photographing our journey along the way....
