Description
This is another view of a Meteora monastery where you can clearly see the sandstone pinnacle the the monastery is built on top. Not only is the natural landscape breathtaking here, but the architectural work is like nothing I have ever seen. You notice the sheer sandstone cliffs. There is no connection to a primary landmass other then the foot bridge that was built in recent times. Originally building the monastery on top of these pinnacles was a protective measure during times of religious persecution.
