Artist's Description
Every year beginning in November, Sandhill Cranes migrate through the beautiful state of New Mexico. Their long journey begins in Alaska and Siberia, heading south to warmer temperature, these beautiful birds stop over to rest in and around the Bosque del Apache along the Rio Grande River. Here the water moves slowly, spreading out along the valley floor, creating the perfect marshy, wetland environment.
Local agricultural fields are ideal as they wander through the corn fields tp fuel up as they will still have a long distance to cover. The conditions are so perfect in the Bosque that literally 1000s on any given day of Sandhill Cranes make the stop. Sandhill cranes are very large birds, standing 4-5 feet as adults and they can live 30-40 years.
About Rebecca Herranen
In a world filled with constant noise & distractions, I find solace in the simple things in life & the unspoiled beauty of nature. A way to connect with the Earth and find inner peace. I hope to leave behind a legacy of my love for nature through my photography, hoping to inspire others to find their own sense of solitude in the beauty of the world that surrounds them. Through my art, I invite you to slow down, breathe in the simple beauty and recognize the deep sense of tranquility that the natural world offers. This is your invitation to make those connections, and in doing so find a deeper sense of peace & purpose in life. My Website I work with my husband Timo, traveling and photographing our journey along the way....
