Description
A surfers dream, massive waves at the Newport Beach Wedge. Located at the furthest east end of the Balboa Peninsula, in Newport Beach, California, the Wedge is known for its wedge shaped waves. When all conditions are just right, waves can be 30 feet high. Not a natural occurrence, but a by product of changes made to the jetty in the 1930s.
This wave action is very unstable and erratic, so unless you are a surfer skilled in surfing a wedge, then you probably don't want to find yourself practicing your surfing during such surf conditions. There are actually how to survive these waves videos on the internet.
It's better if you don't know what you are doing to take in these enormous waves from the beach along with other 1000s of spectators, or if you are so fortunate to own a sailboat you could watch from the other side.
I hope you enjoy the retro style painting of the Newport Beach Wedge.
