Description
The Palace of Charles V inside the Alhambra, Granada, Spain is a beautiful architectural work of art. Although it is a palace, it has never been lived in, in fact it didn't even have a roof until 1957.
The Roman Emperor Charles V had it constructed as a residence, a home befitting an emperor. Traces of Gothic influence can still be seen. More than anything its style is early Italian.
The architectural plan was square with an inner circular patio. Never really done before, so it was ahead of its time in this regard. Much of a surprise as you would approach a square and enter into a circle. It's beautiful.
