The Courtyard of the Lions or Patio de Los Leones is a stunning example of Moorish architecture and the main courtyard of the Alhambra, in Granada, Spain. The citadel is a complex of numerous ornate palaces and gardens.
The fountain in the center of the courtyard sits atop 12 lions, each with a different face. The complex water system within the Alhambra served the purpose of providing usable water inside of the palace as well as providing water that continually moved in order to supply water to numerous fountains throughout this majestic structure.
This vertical image focuses on on center lines of the courtyard, the columns, arched carvings and the fountain itself. There are no people to distract from the beauty.
