Description

It was beautiful watching the sunset over Horseshoe Bend in the Arizona desert. I drank more water and headed back as it would be dark soon. It was still incredibly hot, probably 102 at best. It's somewhat up hill too. I forged ahead, but had to stop to rest for a minute. It was then that I turned around to see this fabulous scene.
The sunset was now moving into the blue hour. The smoke that had washed out the sky when down at the bend took on a whole new life and it was beautiful. The oranges were incredible and as my eye lifted above the layer of smoke it melted into cooling shades of blue and purple. The light on the desert floor was soft with an extra layer of orange and pink against the already red earth. Breathtaking. Look carefully and you will see the arm of the bend appearing to be a bridge across a gorge in the distance.
When my husband and I wander, he never really likes to walk paths when you return on the same path. Honestly I like them, it's always a different view on the way back. I always try to remember to turn around, look back because you never know what beautiful things are behind you until you do.
