They say there is pirate's gold buried right here. The rocky coastal waters and the surrounding steep cliffs made for a safe and secret place to hide the swashbuckler bounty. How big the hidden treasure is, no one is sure.
Ok, that's a fairytale, but the real history of this surreal tower is is fascinating and attracts a multitude of beach goers to this Laguna, Victoria Beach landmark that I didn't even know existed and I have lived in the area for 35+ years. It is known by the locals as the Pirates Tower.
The tower was originally built in 1926 as an enclosed spiral staircase leading from the estate to the beach by a California senator. Throughout the years ownership has changed hands several times. In 1940 it was purchased by a pirate lover, Henry Kendrick. History says he was as interesting of a man as the tower itself, dressing in pirate clothing, hiding coins and candy in the cracks and inviting the neighborhood kids over.
In a world filled with constant noise & distractions, I find solace in the simple things in life & the unspoiled beauty of nature. A way to connect with the Earth and find inner peace. I hope to leave behind a legacy of my love for nature through my photography, hoping to inspire others to find their own sense of solitude in the beauty of the world that surrounds them. Through my art, I invite you to slow down, breathe in the simple beauty and recognize the deep sense of tranquility that the natural world offers. This is your invitation to make those connections, and in doing so find a deeper sense of peace & purpose in life. My Website I work with my husband Timo, traveling and photographing our journey along the way....
