Description

Cormorants fascinate me. This male cormorant was napping mid morning in the Florida Everglades. How do I know it's a male, the incredible eye color. They are a gorgeous aquamarine and they shimmer like jewels. His head was nestled on his back feathers, so his beautiful detail in not only his eye, but his beak and the feathers are all clearly visible.

I walked by slowly and he could barely open his eyes. It's exhausting, that mating season. Had to take a little break and rest those beautiful blues.
