Description
Rare White Rhino and calf in South Africa in black and white. There are less than 21,000 (18,000 according to some) left in the world and are on the Near Threatened list according to the World Wildlife Organization.
The White Rhino is poached more than any other rhino, particularly in Kruger National Park, where we were located just outside when we saw these 2. There were actually 3 White Rhinos, a male who was interested in this female and would have surely killed the calf in order to get to mom. She had moved away from him, closer to our truck, putting herself between the bull and her calf. The bull was more of a threat then we were apparently and the calf was totally unaware of the male and was far more interested in our truck. Endangered in more ways than one.
