Description
You may think you are looking at snow covered hills in the dead of winter, but you're not. This is White Sands National Park, in New Mexico in August and it was hot, very hot. White Sands is one of my favorite landscapes, so surreal, unusual and peaceful.
The sand is soft and pristine white, and formed from gypsum. Unlike some sand dunes, these are cool to the touch.
White Sands is located in the Tularose Basin of New Mexico and is the largest gypsum sand dunes spreading out approximately 442 square kilometers.
