The pretty yellow cactus pear flower is just on reason that I love the desert. Also know as a cactus rose. Out of the thorns comes these pretty delicate desert flowers. Cacti while almost always prickly, most have some of the most beautiful flowers. The southwest desert is full of beautiful flora if you can just get out there in the spring, before it gets too hot. This beauty was captured in well over 115 degree heat during August.
In a world filled with constant noise & distractions, I find solace in the simple things in life & the unspoiled beauty of nature. A way to connect with the Earth and find inner peace. I hope to leave behind a legacy of my love for nature through my photography, hoping to inspire others to find their own sense of solitude in the beauty of the world that surrounds them. Through my art, I invite you to slow down, breathe in the simple beauty and recognize the deep sense of tranquility that the natural world offers. This is your invitation to make those connections, and in doing so find a deeper sense of peace & purpose in life. My Website I work with my husband Timo, traveling and photographing our journey along the way....

Lovely prickly pear cactus flower. Looks like there are more waiting to bloom by the many buds, and some flowers have fallen off and are ready to go to fruit. The varieties of prickly pear in Southeastern Arizona bloom only in the springtime. Some have no spines, too. However, the barrel cactus blooms during our summer monsoon. We had so much rain, that one of my cholla cactus bloomed (I have many). I live on an acre of lush native desert flora. The desert isn't the only place the prickly pear varieties exist. There are the eastern varieties too, such as in Florida, New Jersey, and other states east of the Rockies. This will be a Homepage Feature on Monday.
