Artist's Description

Philadelphia Eastern State penitentiary in Pennsylvania is a must see if you like old historic places. The history here is fascinating and very creepy. Incarcerated in this prison were the likes of Al Capone, the bank robber Willie Sutton, and countless murderers.
The Eastern State penitentiary was opened in late October,1829 and is considered the first true penitentiary. It was designed so the inmates could not communicate and the only light came from a skylight, called the Eye of God so that God could always see them and the prisoners would not forget that.
On April 3, 1945, 12 inmates actually escaped these fortress walls who had dug a 97 foot tunnel that went undiscovered for over a year. Years later during renovations another 30 unfinished tunnels were found.
There are several tours and during October they have some particularly creepy tours. Some of the darker less renovated areas have a very scary feel to them. We enjoyed it and would do it again if in Philadelphia.

In a world filled with constant noise & distractions, I find solace in the simple things in life & the unspoiled beauty of nature. A way to connect with the Earth and find inner peace. I hope to leave behind a legacy of my love for nature through my photography, hoping to inspire others to find their own sense of solitude in the beauty of the world that surrounds them. Through my art, I invite you to slow down, breathe in the simple beauty and recognize the deep sense of tranquility that the natural world offers. This is your invitation to make those connections, and in doing so find a deeper sense of peace & purpose in life.
