The Montezuma Castle became a National Monument in December, 1906 in order to preserve the life of a Native American culture. A sort of window in time. Set high up in the limestone cliffs, this 20 room apartment tells the story of the ingenuity of the people, their skills to survive in a harsh and unforgiving desert landscape.
Built by the Sinagua people who considering the enormous size, it's precarious position and the 5 stories these people were not only excellent builders, but skilled engineers. It is believed that it's elevation was chosen as a protection from the potential of flooding. Beaver Creek sits just below the castle and during the summer monsoons can swell to an enormous and dangerous size.
It is believed that Montezuma's Castle housed between 30 and 50 people.
In a world filled with constant noise & distractions, I find solace in the simple things in life & the unspoiled beauty of nature. A way to connect with the Earth and find inner peace. I hope to leave behind a legacy of my love for nature through my photography, hoping to inspire others to find their own sense of solitude in the beauty of the world that surrounds them. Through my art, I invite you to slow down, breathe in the simple beauty and recognize the deep sense of tranquility that the natural world offers. This is your invitation to make those connections, and in doing so find a deeper sense of peace & purpose in life. My Website I work with my husband Timo, traveling and photographing our journey along the way....
