In the heart of New Mexico's Bernardo Wildlife Management Area, an annual migration spectacle unfolds amid vast golden spent corn fields, enchanting observers with the mesmerizing collaboration between sandhill cranes and the exuberant snow geese. The Bernardo Wildlife Reserve, a vital stopover along the Central Flyway, transforms into a haven for these majestic birds during their southward journey. Against the backdrop of the harvested fields, sandhill cranes, with their distinctive calls and elegant stature, seamlessly share the landscape with the snow geese. The air is filled with the collective honking of thousands of snow geese, their excitement palpable as they take flight in unison, creating a harmonious symphony that reverberates through the crisp New Mexico air.
