Description
The Cholla Cactus is mesmerizingly beautiful, but also rather dangerous. Nicknamed the Jumping Cactus as its sharp spines detach easily and attach to unsuspecting passers by. The Cholla spiny arms reach out in all directions making a lovely silhouette on a desert landscape. This Cholla was found in the Anza Borrego Desert and it just about to bloom after a long rainy winter.

Fantastic closeup. It reminds me of a time when both my dog and I were attacked by a Jumping Cholla in the Superstition Wilderness. It hurt like the devil but not so much to dissuade me from visually admiring all varieties of cholla. This image speaks to the beauty of this cactus.
