Description
The blue doors of Santa Fe have a captivating history. The tradition of the blue doors is believed to have originated with the Pueblo and Native American cultures, where the blue symbolizes the color of the sky. In New Mexico the blue sky is some of the prettiest you will ever see. In time the tradition has become an integral part of Santa Fe's unique adobe architecture and charm. The vivid blue doors are an enchanting contrast to the old adobe walls, creating a visual spectacle of the Southwestern history of Santa Fe, the Land of Enchantment.
